EACH UK national representative. I am Senior Lecturer in Clinical Communication at UCL Medical School in London, leading the clinical communication skills strand of the undergraduate medical curriculum. I also do research and postgraduate teaching.
I am Chair of Health Psychology at Medical School, University of St Andrews and Honorary Consultant Clinical Psychologist with NHS Lothian, Western General Hospital, Scotland. I am interested in the development and dissemination of new complex psychological interventions.

I am Senior Lecturer in Clinical Communication at St George’s, University of London, involved in the design, delivery and assessment of undergraduate clinical communication curriculum. I am also involved in post-graduate teaching. As a Chartered Health Psychologist I have carried out research on health behaviour change in cardiac patients. My particular interest in clinical communication focus on development of skills for effective shared decision making, risk communication and breaking bad news.
Member of tEACH Core Planning Group and Lead of the Courses and Support for Trainers group. I am a Professor and Director of Clinical Skills and Simulation at Cardiff University. I also conduct research on doctor-patient communication, deliver postgraduate teaching and work as a general practitioner.
I am a principal teaching fellow at Leeds Medical School. I am deputy director of undergraduate medical education. I chair the school’s assessment and standards board which oversees all assessment in the school; I am head of clinical communication skills and lead the professionalism module of the MCBhB programme.
My clinical background is in palliative care and I have also been the medical director of a large acute NHS trust. I am actively involved in the delivery of advanced communication skills course using the “Connected” materials. I am deputy chair of the Advanced Communication Skills Educator Network (Oncology and End of Life Care).
