Geurt has a Master in Psychology and has worked many years in primary care (as a psychologist, team coach, consultant and trainer). He has worked for over twenty years as a communication teacher in postgraduate medical education. From 2006 to 2017 he was the curriculum coordinator of the General practitioner Specialty training in Leiden University Medical Centre. In 2015, he finished his PhD on context factors in doctor-patient communication. Currently, Geurt works as national coordinator of Assessment at the Network of GP specialty training institutes in the Netherlands and as freelance trainer and coach. He is now co-chair of tEACH together with Sandra Winterburn.
