The Metro do Porto  purple line E (direction Estádio do Dragão) links the airport to downtown Porto. Metros from the airport run approximately every 20 minutes and take around 30-45 minutes to reach the city centre. There are self-serve ticket machines at the airport.

Taxis authorised to run from the airport are labelled ‘Maia’ and/or ‘Vila Nova de Telha’, there is a taxi rank just outside the Arrivals Hall. A taxi ride from the airport to the city centre should take approximately 20 – 30 minutes (but allow up to 1 hour in peak-traffic) and cost around €30 (taxis are metered).

Situated in Northern Portugal, Porto entices with its higgledy-piggledy medieval centre, divine food and wine and charismatic locals.

The local currency is Euros €.

The local language is Portuguese.

Porto is generally a very safe city with a low crime rate. However, please keep an eye on your valuables and be aware of pickpockets and bag snatchers, especially in crowded tourist areas such as Rua das Flores and Cais da Ribeira.
