The College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a Director to guide and develop the Veterinary Professional Communications Education program. The Director will have the opportunity to develop a comprehensive professional communications curriculum and program which encompasses education to the veterinary students as well as veterinary faculty and industry professionals. Highlights of the duties include curriculum development and delivery, course management, speaker engagement, outreach, and outcomes based research. The Director will successfully accomplish this through development of curricular materials and assessments, engagement with industry professionals as course subject matter experts and instructors, outreach to assess industry need for communications course and workshop development and delivery, and by collaborating with course support personnel in preparing course materials and communications. The Director will oversee the selection and training of actors/simulated clients for the purpose of providing life-like scenarios which engage and challenge students to improve and enhance their professional communications skills. The Director will monitor and assess student and participant success through the development of various assessment tools and associated research related to the assessments and feedback. The Director must be able to build positive and collaborative relationships with communications and educational support colleagues within and outside of the university including industry and organizational partners.
Requirements for the position
- A Master’s Level Degree in Professional Communication and/or Education or equivalent degree
- Experience in the delivery of communication courses to various professional audiences including faculty, students and/or industry professionals
- A PhD in Communications or closely related fields
- DVM or equivalent degree
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinical setting or other healthcare communications
- Completed coursework in pedagogy or adult learning principles

Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000
