rEACH has organised a series of Summer schools (e.g., in London in 2017) which allow early-career researchers to spend a number of days in the company of senior researchers and exchange ideas and receive feedback on their research. The purpose of the Summer school is to enable novice researchers to present and develop their projects with the benefit of discussion with each other and with more experienced academics in the field of healthcare communication. The Summer schools are subsidised to some extent to assist attendance, are held in convivial surroundings, and are designed to foster good research activity.
Summer School 2017
The 2017 edition of the rEACH Summer School took place at Regents University, Regents Park, London, UK on September 4, 7 and 8 in conjunction with the EACH Summer Event. The Summer School was led by three senior facilitators and a junior facilitator to ensure quality mentoring, as well as a connection with yEACH, the early-career network within EACH.
The summer school provided participants with a platform to discuss key challenges they were facing in their research with faculty and peers. Presentations focused on theoretical, methodological, and practical issues, promoting an interdisciplinary exchange among participants and facilitators. The majority of the time was spent in small group sessions to ensure in-depth discussions and personalised feedback. In addition to receiving valuable feedback on their research, participants also highly appreciated the opportunity to network with peers and more senior researchers.
