University of Vienna
The University of Vienna, or Universität Wien, is the oldest university in the German-speaking world. Since being founded in 1365, it has developed into one of the largest and most well renowned universities in Europe. The academic home to many scholars of historical and academic importance, the University is proudly associated with 20 Nobel prize winners.
Today, the University’s facilities are distributed across 60 locations in the City, but the beautiful 19th Century building on the Ringstraße is still the central hub, and will be the location for our conference.
Vienna International Airport is located 18km/11m southeast of Vienna.
Getting to the city from the airport
By Train – The train station is down a ramp underneath the terminal (turn right out of arrivals).
- The CAT – direct express train service to Wien Mitte (city centre). Trains run every 30 minutes from platform 3. Journey time is 16 minutes. A single ticket costs €11.
- The ÖBB – S7 S-Bahn slower trains to Wien Mitte (city centre). Trains run every 30 minutes from platform 1-2. Journey time is 23 minutes. A single ticket costs €4.20 .
By Bus – Bus stops are located immediately outside the terminal.

- The Vienna Airport Lines buses go to the city centre (Schwedenplatz), to Westbahnhof and Hauptbahnhof rail stations, and to the area around the United Nations: see their website for details.
By Taxi – The taxi rank is immediately outside the terminal. The journey to the city centre costs approximately €36.
